The Minister

The Reverend Sally Russell
was inducted on 16th January 2006 at Kirkpatrick-Durham Church

I have been minister in the parish of Corsock & Kirkpatrick Durham linked with Crossmichael & Parton since January 2006 and it is my first charge. Before I entered the full time ministry I spent 25 years in nursing, latterly working as a theatre sister. During that time I trained as a Reader in the Church of England and then continued my studies with a part time degree through Oxford University. In order to complete my training for the ministry in the Church of Scotland, I spent a year studying at New College Edinburgh.
I got married to Allister in March 2011, and so now we have four children and seven grandchildren between us. My hobbies include a love of music - whether playing the oboe and other instruments, or singing or listening. I also like watching Formula One motor racing and the Six Nations Rugby event. I am an avid reader of Sherlock Holmes.

Willie Little, Session Clerk and Organist
Willie Little has served the church for over sixty years. He began playing the organ in Tongland Church and then Balmaghie.  He came to Crossmichael in 1951 at the age of 28 years. He says that he only came along originally to help out and has been here ever since! Willie was also choirmaster and a Sunday school teacher for many years. Recently, his long service was recognised by the congregation with the presentation of a commemorative glass bowl.
Willie is also well known in Scottish Country Dancing. As a teacher he has shared his skills all over the UK, and also in Holland, America, Canada, Australia and Japan. He is still very active locally.
Tennis is another great love. He has played since the age of twelve, and won trophies in singles, doubles and mixed doubles matches.
Willie also has an interest in Arts and Crafts. Having learnt to knit at school he added embroidery to his list of accomplishments whilst recovering from Malaria in hospital in Egypt.
These interests, his family, and his friends, have given him he says  "a general love of life"
